BEYOND - ATLAS

Tether

Acting as a tether, the Atlas space station anchor atop the Lantea space elevator completes the project, and is the first and only destination of Hermes. As Hermes docks with Atlas, passengers, cargo, and other payload from Hermes is offloaded onto Atlas, just like in Terra. Atlas is in stationary orbit above the planet, helping stabilize whatever strain Nexus gets from the planet’s natural forces with specialized engines built in to the station, along with the help of a highly modified and increased in size and yield Ion engines.

Space Roots

Just like on Terra, the space anchor Atlas has four stems extending outwards. These roots help keep Atlas in orbit, and it also helps in the maneuverability of the station. The extended roots help accommodate the tension coming from the Nexus, as it allows for greater flexibility of Atlas. When needed, these roots can act independently or in sync. There are no colour coding of lights in the roots of Atlas, as well as they are more rigid compared to their Terra counterparts.

Dock

With Atlas being the only port in space with a connection to the ground, there are four space docks equally distributed on the horizontal plane. This allows for cargo and other passengers from the Hermes to continue their journey beyond Atlas. They can have their services dock with Atlas as the station can accept multiple designs of air bridges. Similarly, passengers with no business beyond Atlas can stay at the station for limited periods of time.

Top Power

Like with a lot of technology coming out of Project Lantea, the Ion engine is present in the Atlas station as well. This Ion engine might seem like a main component, but actually it’s secondary. The specific Ion Engine installed atop the Atlas station is only used for when the station is severely off its original position, and if the pull of space is too much. It gives Atlas the nudge it needs to make sure it continues to stay in its place in space.
